Regular exercise and a balanced diet will help you and your family lead a healthy lifestyle.
Healthy adults should exercise 20 to 30 minutes, three to four times a week. To prevent injury, stretch for 10 minutes prior to working out. Ease into a routine if you haven’t exercised in a while.
Exercise doesn’t have to hurt to work. If you have chest pain, become weak or faint, or cannot catch your breath, stop what you are doing immediately.
In addition to exercise, a balanced diet is a big part of being healthy. It is important to eat vegetables, fruits, whole grains, fat-free or low-fat milk products, meats, poultry, fish, eggs, beans, and nuts.
Your diet should be low in saturated fat, trans fats, cholesterol, salt, and sugar.
Talk to your doctor before starting an exercise routine or new diet, and talk to your doctor if you have any problems or concerns.
