Childhood screenings and immunizations
Immunizations are one of the most important ways we can keep our children healthy. Every child should receive the following immunizations:
- DTaP protects against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis.
- IPV protects against polio.
- MMR protects against measles, mumps and rubella.
- Hib protects against H.influenza type B.
- HepB protects against Hepatitis B.
- Varicella protects against chicken pox.
- Influenza vaccine protects against the flu.
- Prevnar protects against pneumococcal diseases such as meningitis.
- Rotavirus vaccine protects against a dangerous intestinal infection.
- HepA protects against Hepatitis A.
- MCV protects against meningitis in adolescents and young adults.
- HPV protects young women against cervical cancer later in life.
Check with your child's doctor for more information about when these shots should be given.
In addition to immunizations, your child should visit the doctor for regular check-ups where overall health, growth, and development will be checked. Regular visits with a doctor are also a great way to develop healthy, lifelong habits in your child.
